The 'Church' Girl - 1

Feranmi George was born with a silver spoon stuck right there in her mouth. As the only child of her parents, she was overly indulged and pampered. Mr and Mrs George tied the nuptial knot on 3rd June,1990 and just like any other couple around, Mrs George conceived immediately because she was in the middle of her circle. She had felt the ovulation cramps only yesterday, although she forgot to intimate her husband about it. However by perfect calculation, they  made love and the tiny creature began to form surreptitiously.

"Darling, I am feeling nauseous this morning, what could be the cause? Mrs George uttered. Could it be as a result of the veggies I munched last night? She supposed. "Remember I am allergic to pumpkins." "Oh yeah! That's true sweetheart." Mr George responded swiftly.

Before their marriage, they had debated on the endearing names they would adopt henceforth and Mrs George suggested 'darling' while Mr George preferred 'sweetheart'. They assured each other not to change the names even when their kids start flowing in.

"We must meet Dr Benson as soon as possible",Mr George proposed. The couple had known Dr Benson for a while. He was a member of their fellowship in the University. A very devout Christian who in spite of the nature of his course -Medicine- never ceased to attend church programmes. In fact he was serially dedicated to church activities. At some point, he was anointed as the brother co-ordinator.

Based on his convincing spiritual record, both couples never erred by choosing Dr Benson as their family Doctor.Moreover, Dr Benson and Mr Goerge were both aborigines of Cross River state in the south-southern part of Nigeria precisely from Obubra town and they both spoke Efik and Ejagham fluently. They had their formative years in the village before their parents relocated to Lagos. Mrs George was from Idanre Town in Ondo state.

By the time they got to Dr Benson's office, he had a queue of patients who were desperate to see him."Seems many people fall ill nowadays" Mrs George said. "Bad weather is the sole cause, her husband retorted" But bad weather isn't the trigger for our visit", Mrs George quickly replied.

Almost about 30 minutes later, Dr Benson emerged with his robust stature, from his cubical office."Mr and Mrs George!" he exclaimed. He had not seen them after their elaborate wedding ceremony. "Hmmm pleased to see the two love birds once again" How has marriage life been? He inquired quizzically. "Sweet" Mrs George answered briskly. "Glory be to God" ,Dr Benson replied.

After much explanation, a pregnancy test was conducted and indeed it was true.

In a bid to spice up my blog, I shall be starting a weekly series tagged 'The ' Church' Girl'. The aim of this story is not to incite anyone or reveal the secret of anyone either. It is simply the product of my sheer imagination. Since the purpose of this forum is to promote the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and also to raise men and women who will be heaven bound, I pretty much believe that you will learn from this story I am about to share. Instructions for Righteous Living !!!

In the book of Galatians 5 from the beginning verse to the end, Apostle Paul encourages believers to hold firm their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ lest they fall back into temptation.

He enjoins us to be steadfast in the true faith and not give opportunity to Mr. Flesh to thrive.  We are also advised to walk in the spirit so as not to fulfil the lust of the flesh(vs 16). The flesh and the spirit could be likened to a cat and a mouse- as we know, both are eternal enemies.

He further lists the manifestation of the works of the flesh in verses 19-21, stating categorically that those who engage in such would not inherit the kingdom of God(i.e. make heaven).  The joy of every believer is to make heaven, hence any thing that could thwart that dream should be eliminated immediately. It is important to list out most of these acts as stated in Galatians 5:19-21KJV- Adultery, fornication, uncleanliness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings and such like.

Are you guilty of any of the above? It is not too late to quickly retrace your steps and call on God to have mercy on you. Tomorrow may be too late!

Interestingly, the Chapter did not just end there. There is always a special gift for any believer who does the will of God. Such individual would be assured of the fruits of the spirit which indeed birth many more abundant blessings. The fruits of the spirit are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance: against such there is no law (vs 22-23).

My dear friend kindly muse over this beautiful chapter and seize the opportunity to rededicate your life back to Jesus Christ. You can make this confession: Lord Jesus, I believe you are my Lord and Personal Saviour. I totally accept you today and I assure you that I would not go back to sin. Forgive me of my trespasses and have mercy on Me. Thank you Lord that I am now your son/daughter in Jesus name.

About Gluttony

 

Did you know that eating excessively is sinful and totally disallowed by God? God condemns it passionately(Deut 21:20, Prov 23:1,20; 25:16,1Pet4:3).This sin when summed up in one word is called 'gluttony'. Yes! You may have to rethink before ordering for an extra plate of rice.

Gluttony, according to Thomas Acquinas- the Medieval theologian, is not only the desire of eating and drinking, but an INORDINATE DESIRE.. leaving the order of reason, wherein the good of moral virtue consists."

The above definition indicates that Gluttony is not only about excessive eating, it is about excess of anything e.g television, internet, entertainment, toys,fashion accessories, sex, or company.

According to the Holy Spirit Interactive website,there are at least three forms of Gluttony:

●Wanting more pleasure from something than it was made for.

●Wanting it exactly our way (delicacy).

●Demanding too much from people (excessive desire for other people's time or presence)

I really do not know how true it is but I have once read an online article where it is categorically stated that gluttonous people will end up in hell fire and be force-fed with rats, toads, and snakes. That sounds scary isn't it? The punishment is gravely formidable.

God prefers those who fast and pray rather than those who eat voraciously and desire immoderately. Truly, when God feeds you, you can never be hungry.

Let's quickly examine the story of Daniel in the book of Daniel chapter one.

Daniel resisted the food offered by King Nebuchadnezzar but God sustained him.For 10 days he abstained from food, yet the bible recorded that his countenance "appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the Kings meat (Dan1:15)"

Gluttony of any kind is unacceptable, avoid it like a plague. I can closely associate it with lasciviousness(which I will write about soon).

Now you know that gluttony is not restricted to overeating, it involves too much desire for anything you may want to think of.

Jesus' Instructions

Jesus gave two very special instructions in the book of Luke 21:36 which every believer can use to overcome the temptation of the last days. What are the two admonishing sentences?

The first is :Watch ye therefore;

the second is :Pray always.

In fact no seemingly magic is expected if every individual does not adhere strictly to these admonitions. Jesus has envisaged the things to come on the last days; and  as a friend of every true believer he quickly gives a route of escape because we will all definitely face temptation.

The world is evolving and the numerous signs of end time as specified in the holy bible are gradually coming  to pass. Remember  the words of Jesus in Luke 21:32:

"Verily I say onto you, this generation shall not pass away , till all be fulfilled."

If you are a friend of the Internet , you can google some of the prophecies of Jesus and you will be amazingly stunned that most of them have been fulfilled while some are happening  now and some will be fulfilled in the nearest future.

Watch and Pray are the two helping keys to survive in the current immoral world.  Apostle Paul buttresses this point in 1Thess1:17 when he writes:

"Pray without ceasing."

Devil is roaming about seeking for those he will hunt down and eat up spiritually and physically. Devil is tricky, he is strategically cunning. However, the good news is that we will always triumph if we watch and pray.

Let us be watchful (Eph6:11-12).

1Pet5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour."

Dry bones receive life!

God is sufficiently able to resurrect anything that is either dead or non-existent. This is not contestable because He is the creator of the universe. Remember that He made the heaven and the earth even when it was without form or shape.

In Ezekiel 37, God instructed  Prophet Ezekiel to command the dry bones to live. The whole chapter is significant to our present lives. The dry bones could mean any aspect of our lives that need quick recuperation. It could be our careers, academics, marriages, businesses and all our endeavours.

It is important to know that God cares so much about us and He is ever ready to breathe life into all our situations. He is a God of possibilities. Just trust Him today and He will give you rest all the days of your life.

I command all dry bones to revive in Jesus name.

Finding Favour in Times of Difficulty

The story of how Queen Esther obtained extraordinary favour from  King Ahasuerus in the book of Esther 5 verse 2 gives an assurance that God is still in the business of granting divine favour. Queen Esther as an individual represents the true essence of divine favour . 

The Queen earlier on had thought she would meet the unexpected when she saw the king.  However she got what she never bargained for.

Likewise, present day Christians should be brave and courageous to take up any challenge even when danger is imminent. The truth is God can turn around things for you similar way he intervened in Esther's case.

You might have concluded that it is over for you. Mind you, your conclusion is not God's conclusion. At all times, God has a final say.

I pray that the God that favoured Esther even in the face of her enemies will favour you today in Jesus name.
