Finding Favour in Times of Difficulty

The story of how Queen Esther obtained extraordinary favour from  King Ahasuerus in the book of Esther 5 verse 2 gives an assurance that God is still in the business of granting divine favour. Queen Esther as an individual represents the true essence of divine favour .

The Queen earlier on had thought she would meet the unexpected when she saw the king.  However she got what she never bargained for.

Likewise, present day Christians should be brave and courageous to take up any challenge even when danger is imminent. The truth is God can turn around things for you similar way he intervened in Esther's case.

You might have concluded that it is over for you. Mind you, your conclusion is not God's conclusion. At all times, God has a final say.

I pray that the God that favoured Esther even in the face of her enemies will favour you today in Jesus name.

Psalm 87: The Prominence of Zion

Psalm 87: The Prominence of Zion. This psalm carefully describes the city of Zion in Jerusalem and how God adores the city. Jerusalem is described as a holy place according to the psalmist and God Himself made it so. No doubt why our Lord Jesus Christ will make it his seat of governance during the millennial reign. Although the people born in Zion are considered less important now, during the millennial reign, they will attain a status of prominence. O Lord! Count me worthy when you come for your own people in Jesus name. Amen

Divine Healing Alongside Testimony

The healing of the invalid man at the pool of Bethesda by our Lord Jesus Christ teaches numerous lessons. I will carefully examine two of those lessons. First, when a person receives healing from God and goes back to the sin that caused the illness, such person will be attacked by a more severe ailment (Jn5:14).

Jesus personally admonished the man who had been delivered from the infirmity of 38 years to sin no more lest something terrible will happen to him. This is the scenario when we go for deliverance and afterwards return to our vomit. Those demons that departed will obviously return with dual powers(This is indeed a dangerous venture). That is why we should refuse to negotiate with the devil if he tempts us to sin.

Another lesson that can be inferred from the story is that we must share the testimony of any miracle we obtain from God.This makes our healing complete. I should quickly add a shocking discovery that several people find it quite tasking to share testimonies; they feel timid to stand in front of the congregation to share the awesome works of God. We should never be ashamed in God's presence. Let's endeavour to emulate the protagonist of this story who went about proclaiming God's goodness( Jn5:15). God loves testimony; it is His food. I pray that God will continually place the grace to obey Him in our hearts in Jesus name.

Jesus' Visit to Abraham

 Jesus' Visit to Abraham

The book of Genesis 18 leaves me to ponder on several amazing facts of the holy bible. The chapter also corroborates the biblical statement that Jesus is indeed the first born of all creation.

We are told in this chapter that three men appeared to Abraham. Have you ever mused over the question of the identity of the three men?

Surprisingly, biblical evidence proves that they include Jesus and two other angels. Although some biblical scholars have argued that the trinity (God the father, God the son, and God the holy spirit) were the divine visitors.

Remarkably, I do not belong to the above school of thought. As much I know, the three men were Jesus and two other angels. The  spokesperson (word) among the 3 men was Jesus (Lord) while others were more of accompaniments of some sorts  throughout the visit. Although Genesis 19 reveals the identity of the two men; they were truly angels.

Abraham recognized the presence of the very special being among the three heavenly visitors which was the reason for his constant reverence and obeisance to Lord.

It is quite obvious that several questions may be flipping through your mind concerning the existence of Jesus before Abraham.

It may interest you to know that in the New Testament, Jesus actually told the Jews that he existed even before Abraham.

"Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it and was glad

Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

Jesus said unto them, "Verily, verily I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. " John 8:56-58 KJV

Interestingly, Jesus existed before God created anyone. There is no gainsaying that he is the first born of all creature ( Col 1:15). He is the image of the invisible God. He represents the theophanic or christophanic presence of God at all times in the bible (Dan 3:24-28; Exo17:16; Ps89:35; Isaiah14:24).

Evidence for Division of Labour in the Church of God

The renowned economist Adam Smith who popularized the concept of 'Division of Labour' never knew it would be applicable to all aspects of life. In a lay man's language, division of labour is a process of allowing several people to accomplish a goal by sharing the work into various parts. Please note that the major objective of division of labour is to enable all the parts achieve a single unique goal.

Today, I will be extracting few out of the many examples we can find in the bible on division of labour.

Starting from the old testament, Moses' example is one that we should not overlook in a jiffy. Moses was a leader that could be otherwise called an exemplary one. Even though he had his flaws; his humility was incomparable.

Moses never whined concerning his function as the leader of the multitudes of Isrealites. When Jethro ( his father-in-law) visited him he observed the undue stress Moses was going through. The elderly man perceived that if Moses continued it could affect his health negatively. Thus, he quickly enlightened him on the need for a division of labour(Read Exodus 18:19-21).Jethro even went a further step ahead by specifying the categories of men that Moses should ordain.

According to Jethro, the men must possess the following qualities:

■They must fear God

■They must be men of truth

■They must be men that hate covetousness.

Interestingly, Moses heeded to his father-in-law's instructions and indeed, the burden was lifted off his shoulder. In all, he became relieved.

Let's take another cue from our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus never waited for anyone's advice before he chose his disciples. He had the discerning spirit concerning the huge task ahead of him; hence, he appointed his beloved disciples and announced their roles accordingly(Mark 3:14-19; Matt4:18-22). For example, Judas was the treasurer.

Significantly, there was also a time when Jesus ordained another seventy people(Luke 10:1-2)  knowing fully well that the harvest was truly great but the labourers were few.

At so many points in the bible, there were series of instances of division of labour. For example John also had  his own disciples (see John3:25).

Apostle Paul also wrote about the need for various units in the church(Rom12:4-5; 1Cor12:14-27; Eph4:11-16).

It is important to note that God is in full support of division of labour in as much as it is geared towards a similar goal. Jesus Christ who is God in human flesh exemplified this to us while he was living. Hence, we should support the existence of various units and departments in our places of worship.

If you are reading this article and you are yet to belong to any group in your church, the time is now. Remember that if we fail to do the work of God, He can raise stones to replace us(read Matt3:9; Luke 19:40).

Sanitize your Prayer Altar!

We must have read at several points in the bible, especially at the time of Moses that ordinary people were not privileged to move close to God's altar. They usually stood afar off. This was because the sight of God's presence was often too sacred to behold (Exo20:18-19; Habakkuk 1:13).

God is considered very holy and he usually has special people whom he allow access to His altar. Moses was a significant personality who interceded on behalf of the Israelites. There was an innermost part of the sanctuary termed as 'Holy of the Holies' where the ark of God was kept and no ordinary individual could enter. It was only  the High Priest that entered there once a year on the Day of Atonement(Heb 9:7; Rev21:16).

Nowadays, we are so lucky that we can have our own prayer 'altar' at home. Owning an altar was a profane practice in the ancient times. In fact, it sounded weird to profess you own an altar because it was almost impossible; it was an impious act.

Today, we live under divine grace which allows us engage in practices that were totally sacrilegious in the time of old. Jesus Christ has enabled us access into the Holy of the Holies; we can now boldly enter to God's presence(Heb 6:19-20).A funny practice is the misuse of the grace God has bestowed upon us through Jesus Christ. No matter how  much liberty we possess, God is forever Holy (IPet1:16) and without 'Holiness no man shall see God(Heb12:14).' You may wonder God seems afar off from you. Check your prayer altar, has it  become filthy? By 'filthiness', I mean both physical and spiritual dirtiness. God is a spirit; we are humans. Thus, there is a need to ostensibly strike a balance. We must sanitize our environment physically and spiritually so as to measure up with God's standard. The key to spiritual cleanliness is HOLINESS both within and without, while that of physical cleanliness we probably know.

Meaningless World-A Poem

Life is meaningless

It's just a jumbo-ball filled with nothing

A vacuum laced with air

Oh life!with all your crude lessons

Leaving me thoughtless heart

Musing far beyond life itself

Oh!I found Someone

He made me realised

Life's meaningful,very meaningful

When you're close to me-

My name is JESUS!

Waking up,twas all a vision of life....
